Sylvia Chow, winner of the Hong Kong Music festival in 1990 and the Vancouver Kay Meek Competition in 2000, had participated in the 2003 Sarasate international violin competition in Spain. She has performed in Hong Kong, China, Australia, USA, Canada, Spain and Italy. She was also featured on the Hong Kong music television program. She performed as a soloist with the Hong Kong Shatin Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Hong Kong Chamber orchestra.
She started to study violin at the age of five with her grandfather, Mr. En-Ching Chow. In 1995, she went to the Central Music Conservatory to study with Prof. Yao-ji Lin and she got into the Idyllwild Arts Academy with full scholarship in 1997 and studied with Prof. Alice Schoenfeld from University of Southern California. In 2006, Sylvia had finished her Bachelor of music Degree and Artist Diploma in Vancouver Academy of Music with Prof. Taras Gabora.
Sylvia Chow was the assistant concertmaster of Vancouver Island Symphony from 2005 to 2008 and a member of Hong Kong Sinfonietta from 2008 to 2014. She is currently freelancing with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, trying new restaurants and spending time with her 2.5 year old son.
Violinist Buon Park is prized as an artist of exceptional imagination, refinement, and integrity. Her playing has conveyed pure joy to audiences across Korea and Canada, where she has performed as a chamber musician, orchestra member, and soloist.
A passionate collaborative musician, Buon has actively performed on various chamber music programs such as Nine Music Society and Anima Chamber Music Series in Korea, and Montreal Chamber Music Festival and Music by the Sea in Canada. She also participated in internationally renowned festivals including ISANGYUN TIMF New Music Festival in Korea and Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme in Aldeburgh, UK.
As an orchestral musician, Buon has played in principal position in Seocho Philharmoniker in Korea. She performed with Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra in Korea and Ontario Philharmonic in Canada as guest principal.
As soloist, Buon made her debut with Bulgaria’s Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra at age 12. Her recent performance appeared with Hart House Orchestra at the University of Toronto in Toronto and Ottawa.
Before Buon came to Canada, she graduated from Yewon Art School, Seoul Art High School and received her Bachelor's degree from Seoul National University and Master’s degree from Yonsei University. During her studies, she won first prize in prestigious national competitions including KBS KEPCO Music Competition and the Music Education News Concours.
In Canada, Buon completed her Artist Diploma program at Glenn Gould School studying with Barry Shiffman and Erika Raum. Her study was supported by both Steven Staryk Violin Scholarship and Isaac Mamott Scholarship. She distinguished herself by winning first prize in GGS Chamber Music Competition and performing the solo role in Richard Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben as concertmaster with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra conducted by Bramwell Tovey. Buon joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2022
After joining the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2013, Clayton Leung has immersed himself in the local arts scene; making appearances at the Alberta Baroque Society, C'mon Festival, Early Music Alberta, Edmonton Chamber Music Society, Edmonton Recital Society, Candlelight concerts, with the Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton and has performed nationally and internationally with Kent Sangster's jazz ensemble, Obsessions Octet. Additionally, Clayton is a proud member of the Health Arts Society of Alberta and teaches at the MacEwan Conservatory.
Before moving to Edmonton, Clayton was the principal violist with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and violist of the Atlantic String Quartet and regularly performed with the Victoria and Vancouver Island Symphonies.
A native of Fort Langley BC, he began violin lessons at the Langley Community Music School. He continued his studies at the University of Victoria, and then pursued the viola at the University of Minnesota and the Cleveland Institute of Music.
David Bordeleau is an accomplished chamber musician, having performed in prestigious festivals such as the Peter de Grote Festival and the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam. He served as the principal cellist of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in 2016 and 2017, before transitioning to a diverse orchestral career.
David is frequently invited to perform as a principal cellist with orchestras in the Netherlands, including Het Gelders Orkest, Maerata Ardesko, and Asko Schönberg. He earned an M.A. in music from the Groningen Conservatory under the guidance of Michel Strauss.
David plays a 1938 Enrico Politi cello with an A. Vigneron bow, generously loaned to him by CANIMEX INC. of Drummondville, QC, Canada.
